Alumna Julie Sariñana Designs Bandier x Sincerely Jules Collection

Born in Mexico and raised in East Los Angeles, Julie Sariñana was around clothes from a young age. Her father worked as a tailor and her older siblings are all “super creative,” according to the Visual Communications alumna. It was while studying at FIDM in 2009 that Julie got started in the blogging sphere, which led to a long term career as a fashion influencer and brand collaborator. With 5.8 million followers on Instagram, she was ranked as the second most followed lifestyle influencer in 2021 according to Feedspot. Her most recent venture is an athleisure collection for Bandier, which draws inspiration from her California upbringing.

“Ever since my mom was 14 years old in Mexico she worked at a local thrift store, so since I was little it was all around me: Clothes, fashion, art, it’s really all I knew… I loved to be creative and I wanted to incorporate that into my career somehow,” Julie recently told Remezcla. “My older siblings were so sweet to help guide me and my parents were always very supportive and instilled the values of a hard work ethic. For all of us, that was really inspiring because they were so encouraging and would say ‘yeah if you want to do that, do it!’ They were never the type to be like “no, you need to be a doctor or you need to be this” they were just happy to let us be and, because of that, we were all able to blossom into who we are now which is so special to me.”

The Bandier x Sincerely Jules line — featuring high-waisted shorts, bias cut skirts, gingham prints, and tie-dye separates — is the first of four collections to roll out in 2021. The line retails for $38 to $98 and is available in sizes ranging XXS to 3X at Amazon.com. “The inspiration behind my collaboration was the beauty of California; golden pink sunsets, outdoor trails, bright blue skies, effortless style! Being a Cali girl, I wanted to bring where I grew up and how close home is to my heart to everyone so they can feel inspired,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I wanted to bring the colors, the weather, the lifestyle of L.A. into this collaboration.”
