Jadon Medina Launches POSSE Influencer Activation Agency

FIDM Grad Jadon Medina recently launched POSSE, an influencer marketing agency. He earned his Merchandise & Marketing Degree in 2014 and his B.S. in Business Management in 2016. We caught up with him to find out more.

Tell us about your company: After years of working in traditional full-service fashion/celebrity PR, I realized there was a huge opportunity in influencer marketing. As social media continues to grow and advance, businesses are allocating larger budgets to keep up with the strong influencer demand. Social media is the most popular way to distribute branded content, amplify customer reach, and increase marketing ROI. Thus, with a strong network of top tier influencer and celebrity contacts, I decided to leave my 9-5 job and start my own company, POSSE.

POSSE is an influencer marketing agency that specializes in connecting brands with influencers through event activations, collaborations, and product gifting. We work with an array of clients from diverse industries including fashion, beauty, tech, lifestyle, and even private aviation. Every successful company is participating in influencer marketing to grow their business and for every company there are influencers who influence their target market.

Tell us a little about your background: I grew up in Santa Cruz, California, and knew from an early age that I wanted to work within both fashion and PR. In high school, I was actively involved in ASB/leadership and took pride in planning school dances, blood drives, and even prom. With a passion for events, I wasn't sure where I wanted to attend college. After touring FIDM in San Francisco, I immediately knew it was the college for me. While attending FIDM, I commuted back and forth between Santa Cruz and San Francisco while also juggling a part-time job at a high-end boutique and multiple marketing/PR internships. I graduated from the Merchandising & Marketing Program in San Francisco in 2014 and shortly after was accepted into FIDM's Business Management program in Los Angeles. I moved down to LA in 2014 and with numerous internships and jobs within the PR industry, I graduated with my B.S. degree in 2016. I've been here ever since!

How do you feel FIDM prepared you for what you are doing now? I feel that I wouldn't be where I am today without FIDM. The Merchandising & Marketing Program made me think in creative ways about different marketing and PR strategies. I wouldn't know where or how to start my own business without my Business Management degree. While in the Business Management program I learned how to strategically and effectively run a successful company.

Any advice for current FIDM Students? FIDM provides you with all the tools and education you need to be successful, it's your job to put yourself out there and apply yourself to the goals you want to achieve.

What is your biggest goal right now? My biggest goal right now is to increase our client roster and work with an event broader range of brands. With the recent legalization of recreational marijuana in California, there is a huge opportunity with companies within that industry who need marketing services and now have the budget.
