Display Manager at Pedro Point Sirens Boutique

Recent Visual Communications Graduate Sydney Shives is working as a Display Manager at Pedro Point Sirens boutique in Pacifica, California, a coastal city where she lives. "Nature is where I draw most of my inspiration from," she explains. "In my free time I like to hike in the redwoods and free dive in the ocean." With a lifelong passion for painting and creating, Sydney knew she wanted to pursue a creative career. 

While studying at FIDM, she had the chance to work on the famed Macy's Flower Show in San Francisco. "Macy's was very open to all of our ideas and helped make them concrete for the final display," Sydney says. "With this project, I learned how to design something with the client in mind." She says she'd love to eventually work in event planning in the future. 

"FIDM pushes you to try your best and create your best work," she adds. "The projects you will create at FIDM will prepare you for a future in design, but you have to work for it."
