Grad Natalie Guzman is CMO of Rihanna's Savage X Fenty Inclusive Lingerie Line

Natalie Guzman is a graduate of the Merchandising & Marketing program and is now the CMO of Savage X Fenty, Rihanna’s body-positive, inclusive lingerie line. The brand hosted its second annual Savage X Fenty collection in a New York Fashion Week event which was filmed at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. Rihanna teamed with Amazon Prime to exclusively stream the show beginning September 20 in more than 200 countries. The choreographed production involved dance, music, and theater. We caught up with Natalie to find out more.

How does it feel to be the CMO of such an amazing brand? Incredibly proud and honored – especially after what we just accomplished with the Savage X Fenty Show at NYFW. It’s easy to come to work every day when you’re passionate about what you are doing, and what you are trying to achieve.

What is your day-to-day like in your position? It’s definitely the most challenging role I’ve been in. It’s intense, fast paced, fun. We are still a young company but we are growing incredibly fast so every day is different and brings new challenges. We’re really focused on building the brand and acquiring new customers.

What are some of the ins and outs of putting together a show for Amazon Prime? It was a big production on a very compressed timeline with a lot of teams involved. If you watch the show, you get a really good glimpse of what went into it.

Why did you choose FIDM? I always knew I wanted to work in beauty and fashion and I loved that FIDM had faculty/instructors with real working experience in those industries.

How do you feel FIDM prepared you for what you are doing now? It gave me real working knowledge. The education there was specialized and taught me skills I still use today. What I remember most about my time at FIDM was the course projects—I like that they were relevant.

Any advice for current FIDM Students who want to pursue fashion marketing? This sounds generic but it’s important. It’s what we look for in every new hire (regardless of the length of their career)—passion, drive and the ability to innovate.

What is your biggest goal right now? I want everyone to see the Savage X Fenty Show!
