Student Spotlight: Kayla Concepcion Finds A Fit Where Fashion And Business Meet

Born and raised in Concord, CA, just outside of San Francisco, Kayla Concepcion attended Clayton Valley Charter High School before heading to FIDM for her A.A. in Merchandising & Marketing. “I grew up loving fashion but never felt that fashion design was meant for me. Merchandising & Marketing bring creativity and business together, and that's where I've found my skill.” With a planned graduation in June 2023, Kayla’s well on her way to success in the industry. We caught up with her to learn more. 

Why did you choose FIDM? I chose FIDM for the industry connections and prestige of the school. 
 
How is FIDM helping you toward your career goals? FIDM is preparing me for the fashion industry with real-world scenarios in classes and many opportunities to get ahead. Being a part of the Premier Marketing Group has also opened the door to connections with more industry professionals and job opportunities. 
 
What's an important lesson you've learned at FIDM? You'll get out of FIDM what you put in.

Anything else you’d like to share? FIDM gives students so many choices on where they want to take their careers. Many majors are connected, and it's easy to learn everything you want while at FIDM! The connections and opportunities make FIDM what it is.
