Merced Newspaper Names FIDM Grad to 20 Under 40 List

The Merced Sun-Star 2018 20 Under 40 list includes FIDM Grad Sara Cribari Hill who is in a strategic human resources role at Old Navy and works as a community organizer in California's Central Valley.

The Merchandise & Marketing Graduate, who was chief editor of the student-run magazine FIDM MODE while attending college, moved to Merced, California after marrying her husband, Aaron. "My life is even busier now and more full of activities than when I lived in San Francisco, but in the best way possible," she told the newspaper. "I often say that our social calendar is way more full here than when we lived in the city."

She joined Old Navy after graduation as an Inventory Analyst, a role she was in for nearly four years before working as a Buyer for two years. By 2015, she was in HR for the business side of the company before moving into HR for Old Navy West in 2017. "Studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising was not only the reason that I was able to get a job at Old Navy in 2009, but working at Old Navy has equipped me with the skills needed to organize and lead community efforts," she said.

In addition to her nine-year career at Gap Inc., Sara is active in the Merced Chamber of Commerce, writes a column for the Merced County Times, and runs The Greatest Valley, a product line and website dedicated to local pride. "I started The Greatest Valley to create a more positive image about the Central Valley to Valley residents and the rest of California," she said. "Positive story-telling is also a pillar of the brand and my stories are published locally. Through this work I have had the honor of becoming involved in veterans affairs to support WWII, Vietnam, and Korea veterans."
