Grad Named Publisher of North Bay Business Journal

North Bay Business Journal recently named FIDM Graduate Norma Kostecka as publisher. Kostecka was previously Advertising Director at the Napa Valley Register, where she was responsible for the sales, promotions, and strategic functions of the advertising and marketing departments. Although she initially planned to become a retail buyer in the fashion industry, Kostecka demonstrates how FIDM Alumni can do anything they want after their degree program.

After graduating from FIDM, Kostecka and her husband decided to move back to her hometown of Escondido, California. She joined The Times Advocate in 1984 as an Automotive Sales Representative, and later served as Retail Advertising Manager for the Arizona Daily Sun. Although she’s starting her new role at North Bay Business Journal in the middle of a pandemic, she’s ready to take on the challenge.

“The pandemic is a tragedy and it’s certainly a step back for our businesses,” she told the Bay Area publication. “But if we’re playing our cards right and if we’re taking advantage of the down time, we have an opportunity here to come back stronger … so that when everyone starts opening up again, we will be ready for all that."
