The 28th Art of Motion Picture Costume Design Exhibition is On View at the FIDM Museum

The FIDM Museum is celebrating its 28th “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibition in Los Angeles with over 100 costumes from 30 films – including the five Academy Award® nominees and winner for Best Costume Design – on view through Saturday, March 21, 2020. The free exhibition is the only one of its kind in the world.

Representing the past year in cinema, the major exhibition features creative costumes from films such as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Booksmart, Aladdin, Rocketman, Downton Abbey, 1917, Hustlers, Avengers: End Game, Knives Out, Us, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, as well as a salute to last year’s Academy Award® winner for Best Costume Design, Black Panther.

Also on display are the Academy Award® nominated costumes from Sandy Powell and Christopher Peterson for The Irishman, Mayes C. Rubeo for Jojo Rabbit, Mark Bridges for Joker, Arianne Phillips for Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood, and Jacqueline Durran, who took home the Oscar for Little Women

FIDM Instructor TJ Walker, Co-Founder of Cross Colours, Ruth E. Carter, Academy Award® winning costume designer, and FIDM Graduate and fashion designer Kevan Hall

The exhibition’s Gala Opening was attended by famed costume designers such as Costume Designers Guild President Salvador Perez, Mitchell Travers, Sanja Milkovic Hays, Ruth E. Carter, and Michael Kaplan, among other industry notables.

The “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibition is open to the public through Saturday, March 21, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
