Over the weekend at Los Angeles’ famed Egyptian Theatre, Entertainment Set Design & Decoration (ESDD) students in FIDM Instructor Laura Richarz’s Set Decoration class attended “The Art of Production Design” panel discussion with the Oscar nominees in Production Design & Set Decoration.

Moderated by Thomas A. Walsh, Production Design, ADG, and Jan Pascale, Set Decorator, SDSA, the panel shared industry advice about building a career in their craft. The afternoon was filled with insight from the nominees regarding the production design and set decoration on their nominated films.

Included were the design teams from the films The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, 1917, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and Parasite.

The following day, Production Designer Barbara Ling and Set Decorator Nancy Haigh were awarded the Oscar for Production Design, for their work on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
