Beauty Influencer Adyel Juergensen Starts Bachelor's Program This Summer

Adyel Juergensen is a beauty influencer currently in the third year Advanced Study Beauty Industry Management program. Transferring into the Bachelor of Science in Business Management program this summer, her goal is to start her own beauty brand when she graduates.

“FIDM was my first and only choice,” she said. “I applied as a junior in high school.”

Amazing opportunities have come her way, including projects with Too Faced and NYX Cosmetics. When she was a senior in high school, Too Faced flew her out from New York to Los Angeles for their Sweet Peach launch party in Hollywood at the Mondrian. NYX Cosmetics invited her to be one of the models in their foundation campaign, asking her to represent shade #7, and her photo is currently featured on their site.

Adyel was recently profiled on Fashionista.com in the article, “11 YouTubers To Follow For a Firsthand Account of What Fashion School Is Really Like.” As the article states, ”she seems to be finding her education relevant and worthwhile, making an effort to share her experiences as a college student in Los Angeles.”

Another career highlight in the last few years was meeting fellow influencer and FIDM Grad Nikita Dragun at the ipsy Generation Beauty launch party, for creators. But Adyel credits beauty influencer and FIDM grad Lindsay Hughes with introducing her to FIDM.

Adyel’s social media journey began in third grade when she launched her YouTube channel making Webkinz and American Girl doll videos. In middle school, she started to switch her focus to fashion. By 8th grade, she was posting regularly and by 10th grade, she found her voice in beauty. And when she took the FIDM Career Quiz, it was no surprise that the result was that she belonged in the beauty industry.

And the 21-year-old is just getting started. She is loving what she is studying and learning at FIDM. Her package development class is teaching her about sourcing, both for primary and secondary packaging—with primary packaging as the bottle, and secondary packaging as the box, for example.

In Merchandise Math, she is learning how to make a profit in the retail business. Beauty Law is giving her the ins and outs of accounting. She also cites her Fundamentals of Cosmetics class, taught by Taryn Aronson, as one of her favorites.

Among the beauty brands Adyel admires the most are those that are LA-based and founded by women, including Dose of Colors, Morphe, and Huda Beauty.

She says her popular YouTube videos are the ones in which she offers advice. “I love to inspire young women. Self-love and self confidence are important subjects, and I love inspiring people to love themselves.”
