Fall 2021 Welcome Letter

August 17, 2021

Dear Students,

We hope this message finds you, your family, and your loved ones safe and healthy. We are so looking forward to having you back with us virtually and/or in person! Faculty and staff have been preparing our campus classrooms, offices, library, and other facilities for your return.

Please know that although many things will be different because of the safety precautions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are doing our best to ensure that you and the entire FIDM Community have a dynamic, yet safe, learning environment.

The social distancing, temperature checks, vaccination requirements and other necessary precautions we have implemented are detailed in our FAQ and will be updated as needed. The health and safety of our community is always our highest priority, and we must be prepared to adjust in response to the progression of the pandemic and guidance from state and county public health authorities and our Response Team at FIDM. We must do our part to protect each other and slow the spread of COVID-19 on and off campus.

To that end, we are asking every single member of our community to commit to a few very simple, safe practices while on campus:

  • Wash your hands.
  • Wear a mask or face covering (taking care to cover both your mouth and nose).
  • Maintain a safe social distance (six feet) between yourself and others.

It’s extremely important that we take care to do all these measures every day.

Additionally, as noted in our previous communication, FIDM’s vaccination policy requires COVID-19 vaccinations for all students who wish to engage in in-person instruction, live in student housing, or participate in on-campus student activities this coming fall. Please see our FAQ for vaccination requirement details.

We understand that returning to campus with these new requirements in place can be stressful. Please know that self-care is extremely important. We encourage you to reach out to our Personal Counselors if you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed.

Faculty and staff are here to support you throughout this transition. We want the best for you, and will work with you to help you meet your educational goals in this unusual year. Let’s approach the coming quarter and year with optimism and a renewed commitment. We need your creativity, your positivity, and your belief in a future that only you can create.

Sincerely and with best wishes,

Barbara Bundy
Vice President, Education
