FIDM Students Create Denim Displays For Uniqlo's New DTLA Store
Uniqlo's just-opened first store in Downtown Los Angeles features a sustainable denim display by FIDM Students.
Both FIDM and Uniqlo are passionate about denim and sustainable design. So it was a natural fit when the retailer challenged students to design recycled denim looks for an art installation at their new store at The Bloc.
The 10 selected students created a UNIQLO Denim Sustainability Story using textiles from Fast Retailing’s Jeans Innovation Center, an R&D facility in Los Angeles that incorporates sustainable processing and production methods through state of the art technology and techniques.
The JIC recently developed a new washing process for jeans that reduces water usage by up to 99 percent and has been adopted for the fall/winter season UNIQLO Men’s Regular Fit Jeans. By 2020, the new technology will be used for all jeans made and sold by the Fast Retailing group.
