Alumna is the International PR and Special Projects Manager at Dior Beauty

Business of Fashion recently interviewed French-born and Rwanda-raised FIDM Alumna Fanny Bourdette-Donon, who is the international PR and special projects manager for Dior Beauty.

While studying Merchandise & Marketing at FIDM, fanny worked at the denim brand, Guilty Brotherhood, before moving to New York with the company four years later. When the company was forced to shutter following the economic crisis in 2008, a heartbroken Fanny began working backstage at New York Fashion Week for Maybelline. After a chance meeting in 2012 with Jérôme Pulis, Dior Beauty’s international communications director, he offered her a position the very next day. Three months later, she was living in Paris.

Today, Fanny's busy life at Dior Beauty includes" launching products and working closely with the luxury house’s brand ambassadors. Last year, the house’s earned media value was over $411 million, accumulated through approximately 12,200 ambassadors, according to analytics firm Tribe Dynamics." She said when launching a new product, they decide who they'd like to collaborate with, based on the market, location, and "what’s going on in the culture at the moment."

She told Business of Fashion: "I don’t have a day-to-day; it depends on the projects that I’m working on and what the priorities of the house are. We are in such an interesting time in fashion and beauty right now. Representation is crucial for me and it’s something that I put a lot of work into. In the talents that I pick, and behind the scenes, it’s really important for me that it has diversity."
