Instructor is a Costume Designer for Stage and Screen

Kara McLeod has worked behind the scenes on countless productions

After receiving an A.A. in Theatre Costume Design from FIDM, Kara McLeod went on to receive a B.S. in Applied Studies and an MBA from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She’s spent more than 30 years in theatre at acclaimed venues such as Irvine Barclay Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Center Theatre Group, among others. In addition, Kara was the Stock Supervisor at UCLA’s TFT Costume Shop, Costume Crafts Supervisor at California Institute of the Arts, and Program Wardrobe Supervisor at Kaiser Permanente Educational Theater. She’s also a venerable Freelance Costume Designer for the stage and screen and Makeup Artist with expertise in special effects and wigs. Kara teaches General Studies and Design courses at FIDM, where she’s been part of the faculty since 2000.
