Merchandise Product Development Instructor Has Styled Anna Kendrick, Demi Lovato, Mindy Kaling

We recently caught up wtih celebrity stylist, FIDM Graduate, and Instructor Melissa Triber who was recently in Paris to work with Givenchy for their Haute Couture Spring Summer 2019 show.

"My agent contacted me about working with Givenchy immediately following their haute couture show," she explained. "The show was stunning, although I saw it from a different angle as I was backstage." Melissa said the location at Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris was stunning. "The intricate detail and modern twist on each garment, and the incredible sound of Montserrat Caballé, created a surreal experience you can feel even when watching in video. I had goosebumps the entire show."

Melissa, who has styled a host of celebrities, such as Anna Kendrick, Demi Lovato, Mindy Kaling, and Rebel Wilson, and worked with brands like Disney and Honda, said her favorite piece from the January haute couture show was Look 15, an allover red latex look worn by Juliane Gruner. "She was wearing full length red latex tights underneath her dress and all of the flowers were made out of latex," she recalled.

In addition to working as an in-demand stylist and FIDM Instructor, Melissa is the creative director for a women's young contemporary brand, Sage the Label, sold at retailers such as Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Planet Blue, among others. While in Paris, Melissa and her team shot their look book campaign for the Los Angeles-based line.

Melissa said she is enjoying being back at FIDM where she teaches the courses, Trend and Design Application and Classification and Line Development, in the Merchandise Product Development department, where she received a Professional Designation degree. "I love the opportunity to work with students and help prepare them for their professional career," she said.
