Outstanding Faculty Award Winner - Pat Turner

Describe a favorite class project.

In Consumer Behavior and Research our students choose to study a consumer “tribe” where they are curious to know more about their particular lifestyle/psychographics, but that is definitely out of their comfort zone. They use qualitative and quantitative research to gather insights that ultimately result in three WOW marketing ideas that would benefit the tribe. It is more psychological and anthropological than our usual marketing projects, and they find it’s a great learning experience and easy to apply to their lives.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at FIDM?

Without a doubt, the energy and education I receive from our students and the value of Group Think. It is so wonderful being back in the classroom again to see the new interests, issues and discussion topics they find relevant, and how I can plan to use that enthusiasm to introduce what is simultaneously going on in the marketing environment. That engagement is truly so valuable and good for the soul.

Pat Turner is an Outstanding Faculty Award Winner, an award given by the student body to outstanding faculty members.
