See Costumes From The Crown, Broad City, Westworld, and More at FIDM

The FIDM Museum & Galleries' 12th annual Art of Television Costume Design exhibition in now open to the public in Los Angeles.

From ornate period pieces and bold contemporary dramas to sci-fi fantasies and quirky comedies, the exhibition features costumes from acclaimed television series such as The Crown, Westworld, The Alienist, Game of ThronesGLOW, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Outlander, The Chi, Broad City, and Star Trek: Discovery, among others. The free exhibition, which is open Tuesday through Saturday until October 6, 2018, includes a variety of Emmy Award-nominated shows and fan favorites from the 2017-2018 television season.

Curator Kevin Jones told Footwear News: “There are so many made-for-television movies and long-range series — like The Crown — that are very grand and it’s reflected in the costumes. Designers must be getting fantastic budgets or are being even more creative with their limited budgets because — particularly this year — this has been the best year for the Emmy show that we’ve done,” he said.

"I think it’s because the public loves the huge productions that TV now can produce. It used to be that the big productions were for the big screen only, but now it’s for the little screen as well, for streaming and everywhere. The small screen has grown up and has an even bigger audience. Now they’re playing even-steven costume wise.”
