Grad and Costume Designer Trish Summerville Nominated for Academy Award for Netflix Film Mank

Costume Designer and FIDM Graduate Trish Summerville has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the hit Netflix film, Mank, starring Gary Oldman and Amanda Seyfried. The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony will take place April 25, 2021, 5:00 PM PDT.

On behalf of her work on the Netflix film Mank, Trish has also been nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award, a Critics Choice Award, and a British Academy Film Award (BAFTA). Mank has been nominated for 10 Academy Awards this year including Best Costume Design (Trish Summerville), Best Picture, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Gary Oldman), and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Amanda Seyfried).

Trish Summerville is best known for her work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Gone Girl and Red Sparrow. She won Costume Designer of the Year at the 2013 Style Awards for her work on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and she has been recognized by her peers at the Costume Designers Guild Awards by being nominated on three separate occasions and winning two times on behalf of her work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Summerville designed capsule collections inspired by both films for H&M and Net-A-Porter, respectively, which were met with huge commercial success and both sold out in record time.
 
In television, Summerville designed the Pilot for Westworld and was nominated for an Emmy and CDG Award as a result. She also designed the Pilot for Ray Donovan, and Costume Designed the first season of See for Apple. 

Summerville is currently in production on the Netflix film Slumberland. Her work has been featured many times in the FIDM Museum's "Art of Motion Picture Costume Design" and "Art of Television Costume Design" exhibitions.
