Incoming FIDM Student Wins Gucci Changemakers Scholar

Quinten Clifford, who will begin studying Fashion Design at FIDM this fall, was one of 22 recipients who will receive an academic scholarship up to $20,000 in addition to mentorship and a virtual internship opportunity with Gucci America. Awarded to young people from diverse backgrounds who are pursuing fashion careers at undergraduate colleges and universities, the Gucci North America Changemakers Scholarship is a $1.5 million fund to be distributed over four years.

“Being recognized has really put a fire under me that has lit both creativity and inspiration,” said Quinten, a violin player who attended Las Vegas Academy of the Arts as an Orchestra major. “I have been sewing, designing, and learning about the fashion community for only a year. Everything is so new to me, and to get a stamp of approval from Gucci Changemakers reaffirms my passions.” Quinten said the opportunity has “definitely told me that I’m going in the right direction.”

The announcement of the 2021 scholarship recipients has been covered everywhere from Women’s Wear Daily to The Cut. The next round of applications for the Gucci North America Changemakers Scholarship Program will open in Fall 2021. The first class of Gucci North American Changemakers was awarded in 2020 to help ensure that a new generation of diverse talents will gain new opportunities and experiences across the fashion industry.
