Grad Leanne Marshall Featured in Brides

A Fashion Design graduate of FIDM San Francisco, bridal and ready-to-wear designer Leanne Marshall first gained fame as the winner of Season 5 of Project Runway in 2008. As a child, the Yuba City, California native played fashion designer with a sketchbook, colored pencils, and bits of fabric. With the help of a local seamstress, she brought her sketches to life, and by age 12, Marshall was designing costumes for her ballet performances. Today, her feminine and flowing creations are worn by the likes of Ariana Grande, Solange, Jane Fonda, and Dasha Polanco.

In honor of Bridal Fashion Week 2020, Brides magazine has featured Marshall’s Fall 2021 bridal collection online, which includes a cap sleeve wedding dress with an a-line skirt and square neckline, a strapless gown with ruffle trim, a strappy slip dress with a shoulder cape, and a thick strap crop top with pleated flowing skirt. The decidedly modern wedding dresses are “made for movement” according to the FIDM Alumna, who has shown at New York Fashion Week and fashion weeks around the world every year since 2008.

Of her Fall 2021 bridal collection, Marshall said "I didn’t think I wanted to do (a collection this season) with all that’s going on this year. I didn’t feel inspired. Eventually, I kicked my (butt) into gear to create just a few new things." She said that exercising that creativity resulted in a full new collection of her trademark ethereal gowns. Brides said: “This latest line of her dresses offers something for those looking for beauty, inspiration, and creativity who have perhaps not found that in recent times.”
