Grad Designs Printed Illustrations for the Waikiki Aquarium

The Waikiki Aquarium has purchased FIDM Graduate Sean Kam's graphic designs depicting Hawaiian sea life and their legends for their store. Part of the proceeds from the whimsical prints will be donated to PaePae O He’eia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for the ancient Hawaiian He'eia Fishpond. The artworks are now available in the Waikiki Aquarium Gift Shop.

“For each new illustration I’m not just adding to my list of illustrations, I am learning about each creature in every aspect, from science to the Hawaiian significance,” said Sean, who was born and raised in Hawaii, in a post on social media. “Everything I do has a purpose and is created to do more than just exist. So define your legacy.”

After graduating from McKinley High School in Honolulu, Sean served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 11 years. Following his military career, he earned a degree in Fashion Design from FIDM in 2018. Today, Sean is the owner of The Dressmaker LLC, based in San Diego, California, where he creates vintage-inspired designs with salvaged fabrics and works as a fashion illustrator.
