FIDM Graduate Monique Lhuillier Appears as Guest Judge on Season Premiere of Netflix's Next in Fashion

In the new Netflix fashion competition series, Next in Fashion, 18 talented designers from around the world compete for $250,000 and a collection with Net-a-Porter. Fashion Design Graduate and celebrity designer Monique Lhuillier appeared with the series’ co-hosts and judges, Alexa Chung and Tan France, as well as acclaimed Hollywood stylist Elizabeth Stewart and Instagram’s Director of Fashion Partnerships, Eva Chen, for the premiere episode.

The debut season's first episode paired up designers who were tasked with creating two glamorous red carpet looks in two days. Lhuillier, who has dressed everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Michelle Obama, offered the competing designers helpful feedback. “So excited to be a guest judge on the season premiere of Next in Fashion on Netflix,” the designer wrote on social media. “Thank you to Alexa Chung and Tan France - I had the best time.”

The 10-episode series features a rotating cast of industry icons and guest judges such as Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, Christopher Kane, Adriana Lima, and Tommy Hilfiger, among others. Unlike other fashion competition shows, the designers vying to win Next in Fashion have already worked for some of the industry’s top brands, such as Stella McCartney and Alexander Wang, and dressed stars such as Beyoncé, Lizzo, and Harry Styles.

Next in Fashion is streaming now on Netflix.
