Instructor is Patternmaker and Designer

For nearly 20 years, patternmaker and designer Vickie Peters, who has worked with companies such as JC Penney, Cherokee, and Vintage Blue, has helped make FIDM students’ dreams come true.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I want them to get ready for the real world of fashion. I want them to learn from all the mistakes I made. My philosophy is to be honest and to pass on the wand in this relay race of fashion.

Please describe a favorite class project or activity.
I love teaching patterns and being involved with Red Dress and Chairing Styles. I get to help them make their designs become a real dress, and then to see each student see their dress on a real model is priceless.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at FIDM?
I love to see the new students each quarter and help turn their passion for fashion into reality; they amaze me with their creative designs.
