Describe a favorite class project.
The classes I love teaching the most are Studies in Leadership, Social Psychology, and Writing for Business Professionals. These courses reflect my professional background as an organizational psychologist and leadership consultant. Within my classes my students are integrating The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People into their personal and professional leadership; identifying their own Myers-Briggs personality type; and writing professional sales letters singing the praises of their FIDM major!

Do you have a particular style or philosophy about teaching?
My philosophy on teaching is the same as my personal mission statement: To Inspire and To Be Inspired. Education is reciprocal; my students and I transfer knowledge – they learn from me and I am always learning from them.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at FIDM?
The infinite level of creativity that our students possess! This is evident in their presentations; their internships; the papers that they base their experiences upon – this is especially evident in their own unique style. And to integrate the level of rigor that we as faculty instill within our classes and combine this with our student's knowledge, skills and abilities – it truly makes for a dynamic, motivating, and synergistic academic experience!

Monica Carbajal is an Outstanding Faculty Award Winner, an award given by the student body to outstanding faculty members.
