Instructor is an Expert in Design Thinking

Susan Spencer is a Learning Experience Designer and FIDM Instructor

After receiving a B.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Fullerton, Orange County, California native Susan Spencer worked in the fashion industry as a Menswear Brand Manager at Giorgio Armani, Women’s RTW Buyer at Macy’s, and Trend Forecasting Manager at Spiegel. She’s taught in the Merchandise Product Development and Merchandising & Marketing departments since 2001, and developed and teaches the courses, Sustainable Practices in Design and Design Thinking: Research & Ideation for the Bachelor’s of Apparel Technical Design program. As a Learning Experience Designer, she plays an integral role in FIDM’s on-ground, blended, and online learning experience. Outside of the college, she designs digital content for corporate clients for elm, an innovative eLearning agency, and is an IDEO University Alumni Coach and Community of Practice Fellow. Susan is currently pursuing a second Masters degree in Instructional Design and Technology at California State University, Fullerton.

Susan Spencer is an Outstanding Faculty Award Winner, an award given by the student body to outstanding faculty members.
