Grad Caesarine Novello Builds Out Vince Camuto Pop-up in New York

As the Senior Brand Marketing & Communications Manager at Vince Camuto, grad Caesarine Novello (pictured above in the light pink dress, with her team) recently built out a pop-up in New York City, bringing the brand's spring campaign, "Invincible Desert Oasis," to life. With desert themed décor, spring product displays, and interactive moments, the event was a huge success. Born and raised in Paramus, New Jersey, Caesarine attended Paramus High School. After earning a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing at William Paterson University, she continued her education at FIDM and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Design and Visual Communications. We caught up with her to learn more about her story.

Tell us about the Invincible pop-up: The Vince Camuto pop-up brought the spring campaign ‘Invincible Desert Oasis’ to life. It had desert themed décor, spring product displays and interactive moments for guests to participate in such as an LED catwalk, Invincible mirrors and ‘how to’ masterclasses highlighting how to feel Invincible.

The Invincible pop-up was an amazing and exciting project to work on for Vince Camuto’s spring launch. The team’s vision came to life and the support of my team made it an unforgettable experience. It was a dynamic event that generated impactful buzz across press and social media. Every detail of the event was strategically thought about ensuring it was on brand for this launch. We wanted all guests to feel ‘Invincible’ by stepping into a desert oasis which was symbolic to the location of our spring campaign shoot at Joshua Tree, California.

Tell us about your position at Camuto Group: I am the Senior Brand Marketing & Communications Manager focusing on the Vince Camuto brand. I am responsible for the marketing strategies and activation plans for brand messaging, press, events, brand moments, celebrity campaigns and the collaboration with non-endemic brand partners.

I manage the seasonal ad campaign photoshoots, collaborating with industry leading talent, photography crews all in which support marketing goals to position and drive brand awareness for Vince Camuto.

In addition, I work closely with my team on seasonal retail programming for Vince Camuto, and other brands under the Camuto Group umbrella such as Lucky Brand and Jessica Simpson. I collaborate with wholesale partners to support brand storytelling and key product/trends for each season.

After graduating FIDM in 2013, I was a senior director at leading integrated marketing/communication agencies specializing in fashion, lifestyle, and travel brands. This afforded me the opportunity to oversee compelling brand programs and content development for clients such as Bruno Magli, Ben Sherman, Body Glove, Forevermark Diamonds, Red Wing Shoe Company, Hyatt, Sprinkles Cupcakes and more. While grounded in mostly the fashion space, I always sought work that would add to my skills and expertise in the ever-evolving industry.

How did FIDM help prepare you for your career? FIDM challenged me creatively. It was about the ideation of the project, the details, the teamwork, the execution – I had to think differently than I did for my undergrad. The projects spanned from building out window displays/themes, designing a physical shopping bag, drawing architectural designs, and building out a new business plan – 250 pages, I remember writing! It was intense, but everything I learned I have been able to utilize throughout my career.

Anything else you’d like to share? Building and nurturing relationships is key! I’ve always found the greatest fulfillment with all the people I have stayed connected with through college, the industry, the clients, and my direct colleagues. I’m a firm believer that success is an amalgamation of not only hard work, but of the team you work with and those you learn from at any point in your life.
