FIDM Welcomes Guest Speaker From Neiman Marcus Group

FIDM Welcomes Guest Speaker From Neiman Marcus Group

FIDM Merchandising & Marketing Director Mimi Su recently invited Charlotte Nichols Wasil, University Recruiting Manager at Neiman Marcus Group, to introduce students to their Executive Development Program, in a virtual meeting with the Premier Marketing and Merchandise Product Development Groups.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 with a Communications Studies degree, Nichols started her career in New York City at Bergdorf Goodman where she worked in several areas inclusive of Selling Services, the Buying office, and Human Resources.

She transitioned to Neiman Marcus, working in their HR Department, where she opened the Neiman Marcus Hudson yards store. Nichols recently moved into Talent Acquisitions for University Recruiting in December 2020.

In her presentation, she went over the Neiman Marcus Group company mission, core values, and the ins and outs of the Executive Development Program, which leads into an Assistant Buyer position in their buying office.

The job duties of an assistant buyer include: assisting the buyer in achieving sales and gross margin plans, assisting in financial planning and monthly forecasting, executing marketing events and advertising processes, and assisting the buyer in product selection and identification of fashion trends.

The Neiman Marcus Group’s Executive Development program is a full-time, paid 40 hour/week, 8-week program, operating remotely this year and beginning in September 2021. The areas of interest offered in the program include buying, planning, and store management. The program is open to graduating seniors with a Bachelor’s degree. Graduates in the workforce are also encouraged to apply.

Interested students and grads can contact Rosemarie Konar in the FIDM Career Center at (213) 624-1200 x3550 and rkonar@fidm.edu.
