International Student Camilla Ceriani Says Attending FIDM Has Changed Her Goals

Camilla Vittoria Ceriani is a student in the Merchandising & Marketing Program and recently participated in the study tour to Ted Baker. We caught up with her to find out more.

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm originally from Italy. I got my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management and then I moved here to focus on what I love the most—fashion. My biggest passion is to travel and discover new cultures; this is why every time I have free time, I pack a bag and go somewhere. Studying at FIDM completely changed my goals since when I got here I wanted to run my mom's company (she produces laces and embroideries) and now I think I am more willing to be a buyer.

What did you think of the Ted Baker visit? The Ted Baker visit was amazing! Everyone was so professional and involved in their job and they were talking about Ted as a friend, so I really enjoyed the good vibe I found in the environment. I think this is one of the most important things—being passionate about your job, go to work everyday happy and proud to be part of a team and enjoying the time with your co-workers. All the people we met at Ted Baker were highly skilled and they explained to us in a simple and concise way what their position requires, what the risks are, and what makes their job so rewarding despite the long working hours and all the challenges they meet every day along the road.

Why is it important to meet and network with professionals in the industry, as a student: To me it is important to meet and network with professionals in the industry because it helps me understand what the real world is; it helps me to understand the tasks and the skills required for a specific position and the responsibilities that come with that.
