2019 DEBUT Theatre Costume Highlights

The 2019 FIDM Debut Runway Show featured work from students Audrey Anna Cook, Lorraine Ely, Shannon Farkas, Emily Stipcak, Hannah Smith, and Jessica Swanson, who worked tirelessly on their looks for months. This year's theme was centered around Mozart's The Magic Flute.

Held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, DEBUT features the work of graduating students in the Fashion Design and Theatre Costume Design Advanced Study programs, as well as work from Interior Design, Digital Media, Business of Denim, and Textile Design students. Students in the Theatre Costume Design Program study how to become a costume designer by crafting costumes, jewelry, accessories, and décor strong enough to transmit character in live performances. In this Advanced Study program, Theatre Costume Design classes result in a collection for the annual DEBUT Runway Show.

With four California campuses located in the heart of the fashion and entertainment industries, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is a leading, accredited college offering specialized Associate of Arts and Bachelor’s of Arts degrees.

FIDM has been educating students with creative and leadership skills for the global industries of fashion, visual arts, interior design, and entertainment for 50 years.
