Business Management Grad and Her Sisters Run Multimillion Dollar Naked Wardrobe
Business Management Graduate Shideh Kaviani (pictured, right) and her sisters, Shida (left) and Shirin (middle), are the co-founders of Naked Wardrobe, an affordably-priced brand worn by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner.
The Kaviani sisters founded their brand in 2012, from their parents' home, with an investment of $7,500. Today, they employ a staff of 25 in a 15,000-square-foot office and warehouse in Northridge, California. "We are so proud and blessed to be in this place," said Shideh, 31, the youngest of the sisters and Naked Wardrobe's president, in a recent profile in Apparel News.
Known for curve-hugging knit apparel such as biker shorts, bodysuits, rompers, dresses, cropped tops, miniskirts, and swimwear, the label brought in more than $2 million in sales in their first year alone. Day-to-night viscose makes up around 75 percent of their collection, made hugely popular on social media and via YouTube influencer "haul" videos.
Last year they entered the beauty world with the locally-made and affordable Dope Cosmetix, and their Naked Wardrobe product line continues to expand with maternity wear and a range of faux-fur and puffy jackets are part of the Fall 2018 collection. They design and produce in limited quantities to ensure the styles are exclusive and always trendsetting.
Apparel News writes: "The essence of the brand is effortless, comfortable dressing in mostly knit apparel that hugs the body and comes in affordable prices. This is not for the body shy but embraces the curvy customer who flaunts every inch of her being. Not much sells for more than $40, and there is a constant barrage of special sales cutting those prices by 50 percent or more."
