Technical Designer
Translate design concepts into functional garments. Determine the most efficient method of producing a garment to fit a particular market and price point. Develop and maintain detailed spec packs from design hand-off to production, and work closely with design counterpart to ensure design integrity is maintained. Develop and review fabric and construction standards.
Product Developer
Control an image. Be responsible for managing the development of all new styles within the total line for a specific brand. Recommend materials and construction techniques to meet the company's financial plans and brand's integrity. Develop unique and creative ways to brand the company's product.
Fabric and Trim Buyer/ Purchaser
Research and buy fabrics and trims for an upcoming line and production. Source, develop, and manage new products from both domestic and global sources. Negotiate the most effective pricing and terms. Communicate to all parties to make sure deadlines are met. Resolve all fabric and trim related issues.
Preproduction Manager
Communicate with global suppliers and manufacturers on a daily basis. Maintain the flow of information between the product development team and the production sources. Oversee product details, fit, and patterns; coordinate materials before production starts.
Production Manager
Build, maintain, and publish production schedules that meet cross-functional deadlines. Manage production requests, deadlines, and deliveries. Develop tracking and reporting systems to expand communication across channels and work directly with producers and production coordinators to facilitate the process. Communicate with domestic and global suppliers and manufacturers on a daily basis.
Costing Manager
Negotiate for pricing on all materials and final product costs. Maintain an accurate record of all costing communication for materials and product development. Manage the pre-costing system where all samples are evaluated. In-house expert on pattern yields and the product development process.
Sample Room Manager
Monitor all steps of the sample making process and recommend ways to be more efficient. Supervise sample cutters and sample makers. Check the finished sample for accuracy, fit, and quality. Suggest pattern corrections or improvements and communicate any fabric flaws.
First and Production Patternmaker
Develop accurate first and production patterns and participate in fittings. Partner closely with design, production, and other related divisions. Troubleshoot potential production issues for both aesthetic and cost purposes before samples are made. Maintain all standards in regard to grading, fit, construction, how-to-measure, and other procedures.
Fit Technician
Establish garment fit. Be responsible for examining and measuring proto, fit, and top-of-production samples to ensure accurate execution of requested measurements, quality, construction, and overall fit. Take detailed notes at all product fittings and communicate fit issues with patternmakers and producers around the globe.
Spec Technician
Measure garments and maintain records to ensure precise development of patterns. Communicate all details with global suppliers and check for accuracy on a daily basis. Develop specs for production fit approval and participate in fittings.
