College Graduates & Transfer Applicants

Many scholarships are determined through review of Admissions application materials. Certain competitive scholarships have additional requirements.


FIDM National Scholarship Competition

Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Seniors, High School and College Graduates, and College Transfers Only*)

This scholarship for new students offers a full one-year scholarship to one student in each of the following seven categories:

  • Beauty Executive
  • Fashion Designer 
  • Graphic Designer (Graphic Design and Digital Media)
  • Marketing Executive (Merchandising & Marketing, and Apparel Industry Management)
  • Social Media Marketer 
  • Trend Forecaster (Merchandise Product Development and Apparel Industry Management)
  • Visual Designer (Visual Communications and Interior Design)

Additionally, there are $5,000 scholarships awarded to three finalists in each category.

The GUESS Scholars Program

Win a Full Year of Tuition (High School Seniors, High School and College Graduates, College Transfers, and Continuing FIDM Students)

A full one-year scholarship toward tuition, books, and most supplies is awarded to a high school senior, graduate, college transfer, or a continuing FIDM student. Applicants majoring in Fashion Design, Advanced Fashion Design, The Business of Denim, Fashion Knitwear Design, Design (for continuing Fashion Design students) or Professional Studies (with specializations in Advanced Fashion Design and The Business of Denim) are eligible to apply.

Advanced Study Merit Scholarship

(A.A. or higher Degree Holders from a related major)

This scholarship opportunity is open to Advanced Study candidates who demonstrate academic achievement and overall excellence through Admissions application materials. This scholarship applies to students entering the Advanced Study program in either Entertainment Set Design & Decoration, Film & TV Costume Design, Menswear, or The Business of Denim. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's Advanced Study Programs.

Renewable for up to 2 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

Artistic/Industry Merit Scholarship

(High School Seniors, High School and College Graduate, and College Transfers)

Students with a minimum 2.75 GPA must demonstrate artistic achievement through awards or inclusion in a competitive exhibition and/or demonstrate extensive industry background through Admissions application materials. Amounts vary.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

B.A./B.S. Merit Scholarship

(A.A./A.S. Degree Holders from a related major)

This scholarship opportunity is open to AA and AS Graduates from a U.S. accredited college who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials. This scholarship applies to students entering the Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, Digital Cinema, Interior Design, Fashion Knitwear, Business Management, or Social Media. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's B.A./B.S. Degree Programs.

Renewable for up to 2 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies

College Transfer Merit Scholarship

(College Transfer Students with a minimum of 3 units, but less than 45 transferable semester units)

This scholarship opportunity is open to A.A. transfer candidates who demonstrate academic achievement and overall excellence through Admissions application materials. Amounts vary Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's A.A. Degree Programs.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

Creative Industry Studies B.A. Merit Scholarship

(College Graduates and Transfer Students with a minimum of 45 approved semester units)

This scholarship opportunity is open to CIS candidates who demonstrate academic achievement and overall excellence through Admissions application materials. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's Creative Industry Studies B.A. Degree Program.

Renewable for up to 2 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

DECA Collegiate Member Scholarship

(College Transfer Students)

Collegiate DECA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are DECA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's Degree Programs.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

MBA Merit Scholarship

(B.A./B.S. Degree Holders from an accredited college taught in English)

This scholarship opportunity is open to MBA candidates who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's MBA Program.

Non-renewable.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

(College Transfers)

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for Associate of Arts Degree granting colleges. Students who transfer to FIDM, having been a qualified Phi Theta Kappa member at a 2-year college, may receive a $3,000 scholarship. Only students who come to FIDM with the Phi Theta Kappa designation achieved at their prior college are eligible for the award and the renewal possibilities.

Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

Professional Designation Merit Scholarship

(College Graduates and Transfer Students with a minimum of 45 approved semester units)

This scholarship opportunity is open to new Professional Designation candidates who demonstrate academic achievement and overall excellence through Admissions application materials. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college coursework into FIDM's Professional Designation Programs.

Renewable for up to 2 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies.

FIDM Scholarship Foundation

(Continuing FIDM Students)

The FIDM Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for continuing FIDM Students who meet the special criteria of the Allocation Committee. Potential applicants must be entering their second year of studies and be recommended by their Student Advisor.

Please Note: The scholarships listed above are subject to change. Some scholarships are awarded for the first year only. Many FIDM Scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 at FIDM and consecutive attendance. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books, and supplies. Students must reapply annually and be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status.

In regards to any FIDM Scholarship Competitions offering full one-year scholarships, if a winner is eligible for additional FIDM scholarship(s), the amount of the full-year scholarship will be reduced by the amount of the additional FIDM scholarship(s). Further, if a student is eligible for federal or state grants or additional scholarships from other sources, the amount of the full scholarship applied to the student’s first academic year will be reduced by the amount of the additional grants and/or scholarships. The amount of the reduction, caused by federal or state grants, or additional scholarships from other sources, will be made available as a scholarship award in the student’s next academic year.

The student is responsible to pay Initial & Final Application fees. The scholarship amount may be disbursed in either one or more quarters to the student's FIDM account. The full, one-year scholarships include tuition, fees, books, and most supplies. The scholarship is applied to tuition and fees only and has no cash value. It can be applied only to FIDM tuition and fees that are charges in the student's name and while the student is in attendance. In order for scholarship recipients to use their award(s) at FIDM, they must plan to begin their studies at FIDM in the first or second academic quarter for which they are eligible following their graduation from high school. In addition, they must meet all Admissions Requirements, including a recommendation from their Admissions Advisor.

Should a recipient take a Leave of Absence, change his/her major, withdraw from FIDM or return from academic dismissal, he or she is entitled to complete the remaining number of units of the original program to which he/she was accepted. Upon change or return, any additional units required for the current major beyond the original contract, will be charged to the student (subject to prevailing tuition costs at the time of change or return). Scholarships are non-transferable.
