Student Spotlight: Cameron Harp Gains New Perspective on the Industry

Cameron Harp was born and raised in Torrance, California where he attended North High School before enrolling at El Camino Community College to study Fashion Merchandising. After falling in love with the industry, Cameron met with FIDM’s Cecile Fayen who introduced him to FIDM’s Creative Industry Studies, Merchandise Product Development Core B.A. program, which is designed for the college transfer student. We chatted with Cameron to learn more.

How did you decide on FIDM? My major blends realistic business analysis with creativity and innovation in design and that’s exactly what this learning gave me. I'm leaving with a new perspective on the fashion industry.

Any favorite FIDM memories so far? The best thing about my time spent at FIDM has been meeting so many amazing creative people and understanding so many diverse perspectives. Two of the friends I've made I have so much love for and I'm so thankful to have met them through FIDM.

What is a favorite class project or lesson? Aside from the amazing students and few outstanding teachers, my favorite memory so far is creating my own industry portfolio and the amount of work I was able to funnel into one big chunk of self expression. My professor for this class, Miguel Barragan, made the class so memorable and is now someone so important to myself and my growth.

Keep up with Cameron on Instagram @cam.r9se.
