Merchandise Product Development Grad is an Award-Winning Executive Pastry Chef

Merchandise Product Development Graduate, Lisa McCaffrey, recently took home the award for "Best Celebration Cake" in the International Caterers Association's National ICA Catie Awards.

The acclaimed pastry chef for CakeART at Peppers Artful Events in Northboro, Massachusetts, who is a Le Cordon Bleu graduate with more than 15 years experience in the industry, was profiled in the Sunday Telegram. Prior to working at Peppers, Lisa ran her own cake business, Frost, and worked in pastry positions while living in Portland, Oregon.

ICA Catie Awards winners are recognized at the Catersource Conference Spark Awards gala, an annual event that is affectionately known as the Academy Awards for the catering industry. Her winning design was a three-dimensional birthday cake in the image of Harry Plopper, the fictional pet pig from the film, The Simpsons Movie

"I had such a fun time designing and building this cake for our client, and I feel so honored that it is getting so much recognition from the best of the best in the industry," she told the Sunday Telegram. When asked what she'd be doing if she weren't a pastry chef, she told the newspaper: "I originally went to school for merchandise product development at FIDM, so I'd probably be a buyer for a clothing company."
