Oscar Winner Ruth E. Carter Attends Film & TV Costume Design Student Exhibition
Oscar-winning costume designer, Ruth E. Carter, attended FIDM's Film & TV Costume Design Student Exhibition, which was inspired by her work in Black Panther. The event took place on the Los Angeles campus last week.

Students researched, reimagined, and designed a global ethnic or cultural costume as a creative metaphor for each of their own culture’s ideal “Wakanda.” Their costume designs were recently on display at the Costume Designers Guild (CDG) in Burbank and are now being exhibited at the Los Angeles campus.

Carter, who has over 40 films credits including Malcolm X, Amistad, What's Love Got to Do with It, and Selma, spent time with each of the 10 FIDM students and their creations at a special reception for their exhibition. Film & TV Costume Design Chairperson, Jacqueline Saint Anne, Fashion Design Co-Chairs, Nick Verreos and David Paul, FIDM Vice President of Education, Barbara Bundy, and Costume Designer Mona May were also in attendance.
