What Our Students Learn
In our program students learn the skills to:
- Navigate all aspects of the design process.
- Apply elements and principles of design.
- Communicate and critically reason.

- Create visuals including sketches, floor plans, and rendered presentation drawings.
- Utilize state-of-the-industry technology to produce documentation and visuals.
- Create functionally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and safe environments.

Students participate in projects such as "Chairing Styles," an exciting collaboration between Interior Design, Fashion Design, and Textile Design students and major companies such as Marimekko and Cotton, Inc.
Grad Meg Joannides Kalhammer designed a 10,000 sq ft home featured in House & Garden. The home belongs to her client Kevin Bright, best known for being the producer of the hit TV show Friends.
A Closer Look
The Interior Design Program combines theoretical elements of interior design with practical creative approaches to the solution of functional and aesthetic design problems in the living, working, and recreational human environment. Competencies developed by the program include architectural drafting, CAD illustration and graphic presentation skills, and design proficiency. Students will also develop a working knowledge of the materials, resources, and business procedures pertaining to the Interior Design profession.
