See 3D Printed Dress Worn By Dita Von Teese at Innovative Materials Exhibition
Don't miss the Innovative Materials Exhibition, on view from October 22, 2018 to October 27, 2018, in the Library and in the Textiles & Design Research Room, at FIDM Los Angeles.
See the latest in the textiles and materials industries, including innovations in 3D printing, wearable technology, and sustainable products. Visitors can also get up close to the world's first 3D printed dress designed by acclaimed costumer Michael Schmidt for Dita Von Teese. The floor-length nylon gown was made using selective laser sintering (SLS), where material is built up in layers from plastic powder fused together with a laser.
During the exhibition, the FIDM Library will welcome Sabri Sansoy, Founder of Orchanic LLC, who teamed up with Marchesa and IBM Watson to construct an interactive dress for Karoline Kurkova to wear to the 2016 Met Gala. Sansoy will discuss the Cognitive Dress and how the industries and fashion and technology work together on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Annex Presentation Room - A332.
To attend the talk, please RSVP by October 23, 2018 to Kupesleja@fidm.com.
