Apparel Industry Management Grad Featured on Hypebeast's Podcast

Apparel Industry Management Graduate Daniel Kasidi, the founder of the accessory brand Rastaclat, is featured on Business of HYPE, Hypebeast's popular weekly podcast. He shares how he went from a shoelace to a global movement.

According to Business of HYPE, Rastaclat came from an idea Daniel had while skateboarding. Born in Kenya, he was raised in Orange County, California where he was surrounded by skate culture — he even landed his own sponsorship at age 17. After Daniel decided to braid an extra set of shoelaces to wear as a bracelet, people took notice. He began selling them in high school, and loved the positive stories that followed each purchase.

It wasn’t until Daniel attended FIDM, and gained experience working at companies such as Levi’s, Reebok, and Speedo, that he would officially launch Rastaclat. "I got industry knowledge while I was going to school," he told Business of HYPE, "and that was really impactful." He said his accessory allows people who can't necessarily afford streetwear to at least feel part of the culture via a Rastaclat bracelet. The company regularly collaborates with charitable foundations and donates proceeds to a variety of issues.

Rastaclat bracelets are available in a variety of collections, such as Pride and Year of the Pig, and colors via their online store and at retailers such as Tillys, Zumiez, and Lids, among numerous others.
