One Day Summer Session: Intro to Fashion Design
Experience a day in the life of a fashion designer, beginning with a welcome session led by FIDM Fashion Design Co-Chairs Nick Verreos and David Paul. The day is structured with two dedicated 3-hour seminars led by FIDM Instructors. Designed to simulate the FIDM classroom experience, this session covers fashion illustration, draping, and pattern drafting.
Morning Session: Fashion Illustration
In this hands-on workshop with a live model, students learn the proportions and techniques for sketching the nine-head fashion figure.
Afternoon Session: Draping & Pattern Drafting
Students apply draping techniques to gain an understanding of proportion, balance, construction, and fit, then learn how to use the basic block in constructing apparel samples.
"Intro to Fashion Design" is now full, but there's still room in the "Fundamentals of Collection Development" session. You'll study how the fashion runway, local street fashion, and trend predictives work to set the direction for future seasons. Plus, you'll participate in the creative process of line development.
