Title IX

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” - Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Examples of programs and activities that are subject to Title IX include admissions, recruitment, financial aid, academic programs, housing and employment. FIDM is committed to providing a work and educational environment free of unlawful harassment, discrimination and retaliation. FIDM does not discriminate in its employment practices or in its educational programs or activities on the basis of sex. FIDM also prohibits retaliation against any person opposing discrimination or participating in any discrimination investigation or complaint process internally or externally. Reports of misconduct, questions regarding Title IX, and concerns about noncompliance should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator. FIDM’s Title IX Coordinator coordinates the college’s efforts to comply with its Title IX responsibilities including the coordination of education and training activities, in taking reports and Formal Complaints of Sexual Harassment. Students, faculty, administrators, staff, or others who participate in FIDM’s education programs and activities with questions, concerns, or complaints about sex discrimination, Sexual Harassment or retaliation are encouraged to contact the Title IX Coordinator:

Students who wish to obtain confidential assistance without making a report to FIDM, may do so by speaking confidentially with one of our Personal Counselors. Personal counselors are only available to FIDM students.
