FIDM Degree: Merchandise & Marketing Professional Designation

Tell us about your position with Louis Vuitton. I’ve been in my role since January 2017. I am the Special Events Director, overseeing all Special Events for the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

What do you enjoy about working in the world of special events? It is so dynamic. There is never an event that is the same and it stays really fresh and interesting all the time. Also, I love meeting new people, so to be able to create once in a lifetime experiences for others is something that I truly enjoy.

What have been some of your favorite Louis Vuitton events to work on? We work on all types of events, from store opening parties, press days, and art talks to global press and image events that happen in the US. My favorite event this year was the opening party for our New York exhibit – Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – which is a retrospective of Louis Vuitton and the history of the brand. We threw a huge preview event to celebrate the opening in October and invited guests from all over the world to be the first to preview the exhibit and attend the party at Pier 17, which doesn’t open until 2018, and we were the first brand to use the space, which was a really cool experience for our guests. Following the opening, our team continues to run the exhibit day to day.

How did FIDM help prepare you for your career? Through FIDM, I got an amazing internship in the Celebrity Division at Giorgio Armani. It really kicked started my career in fashion and I had many jobs come out of this internship.  I learned early on that networking is truly what helps to drive your career forward. Without FIDM and this internship my career could have been totally different.
