Jenna Piantedosi Shows Collection at Dallas Market

Fashion Designer and FIDM Merchandise Product Development Grad Jenna Piantedosi just launched her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection for her new line, J. Dosi, and is currently attending the Dallas Market, January 25-28. Shown above with her brother and business partner Jason Piantedosi, you can follow her tradeshow journey on FIDM’s Snapchat, January 25. We sat down with her to find out more.

Describe your AW17 collection. What are some standout pieces? J. Dosi is Chic with an edge—Chanel meets Versace. Some standout pieces in the AW and Holiday 2017 Collection are tweed jackets and skirts, such as the Violetta Tweed Jacket and Eva Tweed Skirt.

We have beautiful dresses such as the Dolce Dress and Diva Dress. The Dolce Dress has silk velvet, micro-modal ponti and high quality mesh. The Diva Dress is made of a heavy modal fabric, high quality mesh, with charmeuse silk details inside.

Our Bella Lame Silk Blouse is one is our best sellers. This blouse is made from the up-most quality silk with a gold printed lame on top. Its bow accent gives it a luxurious designer look and feel.

Our Bianca Jumpsuit is perfect for the holiday season, made from a heavy silk charmeuse.

The Marie Leather, Suede and Rex Rabbit Fur is our signature jacket of the season. Made from the finest leathers and fur, this is definitely a statement piece.

What is your inspiration behind the collection? The inspiration behind my first collection was to be me. For the first time in my career, I was able to design for myself and what I liked. I felt I needed to be true to myself and my aesthetic and just go with it. Quality, fit and attention to details is what J. Dosi is all about. It’s all about the details!

Who are your heroes? My heroes are my family. I would not be where I am today without the support and love from my mother, my father, and my brother, Jason. Everything I am doing, I am doing for them. My Nana was my biggest hero, she was so strong, kind and creative.

What advice do you have for an aspiring Fashion Designer or Product Developer in college? Your student portfolio is going to get you that job interview. Work hard and give it all that you have. Time goes by fast, so take in as much as you can. Make sure to have an internship. The industry is very different than school. Build relationships with your professors, faculty and students. You will get out of FIDM what you put in. Never give up, and believe in yourself.

When pursuing your dream, what is the single most important thing to keep in mind? When pursuing your dreams it is important to stay focused. Do not let outside influences get to you. And always remember, this is a marathon not a sprint. Have a passion and love for what you are doing.

Anything else you'd like to share? I would like to thank FIDM for their support. FIDM has stood by me and believed in me throughout my journey. Attending FIDM was the best decision I ever made. I am so grateful!
