Just Accepted Student Ally Sutherland-Horton Credits Sister in Leading Her To FIDM

Ally Sutherland-Horton just graduated from Sanderson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, and starts at FIDM Los Angeles, October 4th, to study Digital Media. One of her biggest supporters in guiding her to FIDM is her sister, Whitney Sutherland, a Merchandising & Marketing Alumna who is currently earning her Bachelor’s in Business Management.

Tell us a bit about yourself: I am a very determined and passionate student who loves to dream big! I love Jesus, Coldplay, and Disney, more than words can explain.

What is your proudest accomplishment so far? Writing a 5-page paper in one night! (Lol, we've all been there, I think.) Also, filming and editing my entrance project.

What made FIDM right for you? The location, opportunities, and industry professionals.

How did you choose your major? I definitely 100% want to work in the film industry, particularly in animation, and found that this major matched that exactly! The cool part is that it's broad enough to a point where if I changed my mind and wanted to produce live action movies or work in virtual reality, the curriculum in that major would allow me to do either one of those.

Who has been your biggest supporter/influencer in guiding you to FIDM? My incredible sister, Whitney, and my mother!

What are you looking forward to explore in and around Los Angeles? Everything! But I can't wait to explore more of DTLA and the Valley!

What are your career goals? I want to animate for Disney or Pixar. I hope to achieve this through an internship and/or the Disney College Program.

Anything else you'd like to share? Many people back home in North Carolina think I'm crazy for moving and going to school in California, but I've decided to follow my heart and follow my dreams! Movies like Tangled, Moana, and La La Land have inspired to eliminate the negativity and to pursue the things that will make me happy!
