Students and Alumni Meet First Man Costume Designer Mary Zophres

Movie studio Universal Pictures invited students to Universal Studios earlier this month to meet First Man Costume Designer, Mary Zophres, and see a screening of the film that stars Ryan Gosling.

“It was a delightful evening,” said Rosemarie Ribeiro, FIDM Career Advisor for the Film & TV Costume Design Program. “Students were able to ask Mary Zophres questions during the Q&A and then meet her in person.”

Those in attendance were Jessica Williams, April Lee, Amelia Casarez, Emily Mariel, and Crystal Santos, representing majors including Entertainment Set Design, Fashion Design, and Visual Communications.

“I think this type of networking experience is extremely valuable in forming bonds between students/alumni and people who currently work in the industry,” said Crystal Santos, Visual Communications Alumna who now art directs photo shoots at Warner Bros. Records, as well as designs packaging, album artwork, and other promotional materials. “I love opportunities like these and cannot wait to go to more!”
