Kia Ragland is Manager of Global Product Development at Smashbox

Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing Alumna Kia Ragland is the Manager of Global Product Development at Smashbox Cosmetics. We caught up with the beauty industry professional to find out more about her career and path to success.

What do you love about your work? I love the creativity that comes along with my job and being able to have a voice in what products we launch.

What are you responsible for? I am responsible for taking a project from concept to market. Each season I manage multiple projects/launches that involves everything from presenting an idea, developing a formula and creating shades to working closely with multiple departments along the way aiding in each step of the development process.

How did FIDM prepare you for your career? FIDM taught me how to work at a fast pace under pressure as well as how to work with others in a group setting. I also learned how to network which really helped to get my foot in the door and brand myself.

Anything else you'd like to share? My biggest tip to anyone is to intern. It’s the best way to network and show what you can bring to the table.
