DECA Students Eligible For Up To $5.5K in Scholarships

DECA prepares students for leadership careers in marketing, finance, management, and entrepreneurship—an excellent foundation for an education at FIDM, where students earn degrees in areas including Apparel Industry Management, Business Management, and Merchandising & Marketing. FIDM offers three different DECA scholarships to qualified students accepted into FIDM.

Scholarships For DECA Students Accepted Into FIDM:

  • $1,000 scholarship (for DECA students)
  • $1,500 scholarship (for students who are DECA State Officers at the time of their acceptance)
  • $3,000 scholarship (for DECA students who are First Place winners in state competitions in the Apparel and Accessories Marketing and Integrated Marketing Campaign Events categories)

DECA students interested in applying for FIDM scholarships should contact the Admissions Office: 800.624.1200 or admissions@fidm.edu.

Former DECA Members share their FIDM Stories

We caught up with FIDM/DECA Alumna Lauren Hawk, who is now an Associate Designer at GUESS in Los Angeles. “Being a DECA Student helped me develop myself as a leader and to think of myself as a brand,” she said. “I decided on Apparel Industry Management because it offered design and business courses. With this major you can go into any area of the design world.”

Ja’Shae Jones also participated in DECA as a high school student. “My passion for the fashion industry started at a very very young age,” the Ohio native said. “I joined my high school's Marketing Career Technology Program, then I joined DECA and competed in various competitions across the midwest. When I got accepted into FIDM, it was a dream come true!” Ja’Shae graduated from FIDM with her Merchandising & Marketing degree in 2014 and is now a buyer at Zappos.

Janice Morrison, who was the president of her DECA club in high school and studied Apparel Industry Management at FIDM, has some advice for DECA students applying to FIDM. She says, "Be mindful of the marketing/business skills and knowledge you will attain during DECA as it will work to your benefit." Janice now lives in New York and has plans to launch an online vintage store and personal shopping service by the end of 2017.

FIDM offers an accredited MBA, Bachelor’s, and Associate’s Degree programs in 30+ design and creative business majors.
