Fashion Grad Bethany Yellowtail Profiled in the LA Times

The Los Angeles Times recently profiled FIDM Fashion Design Graduate Bethany Yellowtail who designs apparel and accessories under the label B.YELLOWTAIL. The three-year-old line, based in Los Angeles and inspired by the designer's Native American tribal heritage and a desire to combat cultural appropriation, has caught the attention of John Legend, Shailene Woodley, America Ferrera, and Vogue's Anna Wintour.

“I realized there is so much [cultural appropriation] going on that I decided I am not even going to get mad anymore, but I decided I was going to do something about it,” she told The Times. “Ultimately, I want to let my work become a learning opportunity and design pieces with cultural integrity.”
