BizBash Magazine

International Special Events Society Table Design Competition

At this annual convention, FIDM Students from Angela Hicks’ Lifestyle Presentation class competed to design an eco-friendly, low budget table top display based on the Midsummer Night’s Fantasy theme. The FIDM team, working with contributions from the FIDM Scholarship Store, Town & Country Rentals, and Rolling Hills Hollywood, took first place at this high profile event.

Pasadena Magazine

Visual Communications Competition

Pasadena retailers Macy’s, Whole Foods Market, Vroman’s, and others participate in this annual design competition where FIDM Students collaborate with real brands to create in-store merchandise displays. The student displays are showcased in local stores and featured in photo spreads in Pasadena Magazine.


Planning and Visual Education Partnership Annual Design Competition

FIDM participates in this yearly design challenge for retail planning, visual merchandising, and branding college students. In 2011, FIDM Student Florence Tang placed third in the Visual Merchandising category.

Saks Fifth Avenue and DDI Magazine

Sponsor Window Design Challenge in Beverly Hills

Six Visual Communications students competed in this daylong challenge designing windows at the flagship Saks in Beverly Hills. Each student team, with the help of a mentor from Saks’ visual team, had a day to come up with a theme and design a window on the spot. The winner was chosen by an industry panel from DDI and Saks.
