Visual Communications Student Windows Win Awards in NYC

Two of the Visual Communications student window designs from Paul Olszewski's Design Installation class won awards at the recent WindowsWear Student Awards in New York City.

The two student teams won for Best Window Display (Kaylee Kreyling, Carly Lampher, Jasmine Ray, and Matthew Wesley) and Best Use of Color (Victoria Garcia, Janelle Hammonds, Samantha James, and Matthew Wesley).

Matthew (pictured above), the student whose teams created windows entitled "Lips" and "Purple Reign," respectively, was able to pick up the two awards in person at the gala event.

Student Carly Lampher submitted her team's window ("Lips") to the WindowsWear Student Competition, and had this to say about their design: "This window is inspired by Pointillism. To create the lips as our backdrop, we strategically placed 9,100 push pins onto the board. Our slogan, ‘Walk it like you Talk it’ pulls together the telephone cords being used to hang our merchandise; as if the shoes are literally walking and talking themselves. Hues of black and white with a pop of red provides a minimal appeal that is clean. The window empowers confidence, sensuality, and cultivated beauty.”

WindowsWear is the world’s largest visual merchandising database and community, co-founded in New York City in 2012, by Jon Harari, Mike Niemtzow, and Raul Tovar.

Congratulations to the winners!
