Nicolette Fleming

Assistant Coordinator, Chairs for Affairs

Recent Visual Communications Graduate Nicolette Fleming is living and working in the Bay Area as an Assistant Coordinator for the event coordination and party rentals company, Chairs for Affairs. The daughter of a musician, Nicolette was a competitive dancer for the majority of her life. "At 19, I decided dance wasn't my most lucrative and fulfilling career choice and found myself exploring the world of fashion," she says.

Originally interested in studying Interior Design at FIDM, Nicolette was encouraged by her advisor to look into Visual Communications since that major would allow her to think creatively and outside of the box. While at FIDM, Nicolette had the unique opportunity to work on the Macy's Flower Show in San Francisco. "From start to finish, it was fun and exciting," Nicolette explains. "Macy's visual team was so supportive and kind, and just as excited as we were."

She also notes that classes such as Design Installation gives students the hands-on experience of working for a client and meeting deadlines. "You will get out of FIDM exactly what you put in," she adds. "Everyone wants to see you succeed and will help you get there, but closed mouths don't get fed."
